Rodeo Traditions

The Kispiox Valley Rodeo is a much anticipated family event. For those that pursue the rodeo life, the year before this event has been spent in serious preparation.

Over time, some things have become expected at the KVR. You expect to be greeted with a smile at the gate. You expect to be sated by yummy food prepared by the Four Fat Fryers (Fred Roisum, Charlie Willson, Glynn Wookey, Peter Hinchcliffe, and Gil Wilson - yes, there are five) and their Kitchen Wench (Janet Willson) in the concession hall.

You would also look forward to the Grand Entry, or the opening ceremony starring the hard working Drill Team. Their precision riding and enthusiasm are more than enough to get even the sourest attendee rarin' to go.

Other Kispiox Rodeo traditons include lots of community involvement, especially the singing of the national anthem. This event stars a young local talent from one of the Hazelton elementary schools who competes for the chance to perform at the KVR.

All in all, it's time well enjoyed.
