From
1974 to 1984, Monique Lalancette has worked as a graphic artist,
studied modern dance and studio arts as well as participated in
workshops on acting and voice.
In
1985, she was selected to take part in the Concordia University
Annual Exhibition where she received an Honorable Mention. In 1986,
same scenario except this time she was granted an Award of Excellence
with an Honorable Mention. One year later, she graduated from Concordia
University in Fine Arts and pursued her learning in computer graphics,
psychology and philosophy.
It
is in 1987 that she produced her first solo exhibition De la
figure au cerf-volant at l'Empreinte Art Gallery in Montréal.
She was awarded in 1991 an Exploration Grant from The Canada Arts
Council to make a research on ancient beliefs relating to death.
She was also attributed the same year a research grant by The Vermont
Studio Center to extend her stay at their Artist Residency to develop
her series Mémoires.
Her fourth solo exhibition has taken place at the Galerie du Centre
in St-Lambert and her latest one, in November 1995, at the Galerie
du Centre L'Oreille Recousue in Montreal.
In
1997, Monique was selected by a jury of experts to exhibit one of
her paintings, part of the series Rite du thé, at
the Galerie ot the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Since then, she
has exhibited her miniature paintings, still related to theism,
in several galleries located in Montreal, Quebec and Toronto.
