Vancouver artist Pnina Granirer completed her studies at the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem, Israel and in 1965 came to Canada and became a Canadian citizen. In 1966 Granirer worked in Pierre Ayot's print studio year in Montreal. In 1978 she studied lithography with Garo Antresian at the Emily Carr College of Art & Design and in 1984 studied stage painting with Ted Roberts at the University of British Columbia. Later she created sets for the Shakespeare Festival in Vancouver. In the summer of 1989 she participated in the Emma Lake Artists' workshop. She later lived in Paris for extended periods and worked at the lithography shop of Clot, Bramsen & Georges, and exhibited in Paris and Strasbourg.

A 27 min. video on her work has been shown on the educational television networks Canada wide and her exhibitions have been the subject of reviews in publications such as ArtsMagazine, ArtsWest, Vanguard, Artichoke, Art Focus and others.

Exhibited locally, nationally and internationally, Granirer's works are found in numerous public and private collections in Canada, the U.S., Europe, Israel and Peru. While living periodically in Paris, Granirer produced lithographs at the Atelier Clot, Bramsen & Georges and showed in group exhibitions at the Canadian Cultural Centre, the Grand Palais, the Canadian Embassy and solo shows in Strasbourg. Her prize winning limited edition book The Trial of Eve was published in December 1989 and was launched in Vancouver, Seattle and Portland. A film of the same name and based on the book was produced by Gretchen Jordan-Bastow and premiered in February 1990 at the Pacific Cinematheque in Vancouver. The film was later shown on the Knowledge Network and featured at the 1992 UNESCO International Art Film Festival in Paris, France.

In 1993, together with artist Anne Adams, Granirer initiated and organised the successful annual Artists in our Midst Open Studios event involving more than 60 artists.

A 40 years retrospective of her work was mounted at the Richmond Art Gallery in January 1998 and a book by Ted Lindberg on her life and work, Pnina Granirer: Portrait of an Artist (Ronsdale Press) was published at the same time.

Pnina Granirer is currently an instructor at the Vancouver Academy of Art.
