Jacques Cartier: New Land for the French King

Transportation

Graphical element: Ships from the time of Cabot and Cartier

Cartier had visited the New World before his famous explorations. He sailed in small, crowded ships called caravels and galleons. One of the caravels he took on his first voyage was about 24 metres long and carried 31 men. It was very uncomfortable and unhealthy on these ships.
