Eric Beddows (Ken Nutt) Biography Born: November 29, 1951 in Woodstock, OntarioNow lives in: Stratford, Ontario When Eric was growing up, he was the kid who was always drawing. He had no brothers or sisters, and though he was often alone, he wasn't lonely. He spent a lot of his time drawing and daydreaming. He knew when he was very young that he wanted to be an artist. His parents, teachers and friends encouraged him. Even though he didn't make the sports teams he tried out for, he always made the posters for school events. Eric's two passions were art and paleontology. He always knew he wanted to be an artist. When he found out that he could study art and paleontology and then draw dinosaurs as a job, he thought he would do that. When he got to university, art won over science. He studied drawing and painting at York University for two years, and then left to live on a farm near Stratford, Ontario. He was a carpenter for awhile. Carpentry is not a good job for someone who likes to draw, because lots of carpenters lose their fingers. So he went to work in a factory for a year and then he got a job in an art gallery. At the gallery he worked as a janitor, then he became the person who set up the exhibitions. Later he taught art classes for both children and adults, and began to exhibit his works. After awhile, so many people wanted his artwork that he had to leave the gallery job so he could spend all his time creating. Eric now divides his time between painting works of art for galleries and illustrating children's books. When he's not painting or drawing, Eric reads about natural history, and collects fossils and anything to do with dinosaurs. He has lots of dinosaur models and he even has a real dinosaur tendon! He is quite a collector. Eric also collects old toys and old books with unusual pictures, like old science textbooks and out-of-date encyclopedias.
