Long before a book is printed, there is a whole team at the publishing house working on a plan to let people know about the book. It's also their job to make sure that the book sells lots of copies. The marketing team must figure out who will buy the book, how much it should cost and where the book will be sold.

The marketing team will plan where to advertise the book. They will ask people to write articles about the book for magazines and newspapers. They will also arrange for the author and illustrator to be interviewed on radio or television. As well, authors and illustrators will visit schools, sign books at bookstores, give readings and speak at conferences.
