bioprofile: Steven Totosy de Zepetnek's areas of scholarship are in comparative culture and media studies (theory and application), communication studies, comparative literature, postcolonial and ethnic minority studies, film and literature, audience studies, English, French, German, Central European, US, and Canadian cultures and literatures, history, bibliographies, new media and knowledge management, and editing. Totosy is with a B.A. in history and German from the University of Western Ontario (1980), an M.A. in comparative literature from Carleton University (1982), a B.Ed. in history and English from the University of Ottawa (1984), and a Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of Alberta (1989). Teaching at the University of Alberta Department of Comparative Literature 1984-2000 as lecturer and professor where he also served as assistant and associate director of the Research Institute for Comparative Literature 1989-97, since 2000 residing in Boston where he lectured in communication and media studies at Northeastern University 2000-01, Totosy is now professor of comparative media and culture studies <http://www.medienkomm.uni-halle.de/institut/team/totosy/default.shtml> at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, Germany <http://www.uni-halle.de/MLU/index_e.htm>, 2002-.
