Airina Volungeviciene is the head of Distance Study Centre and associate professor at the department of Education at Vytautas Magnus University since 2007, where she moved after spending 11 years at Kaunas University of Technology. She is the president of Lithuanian Distance and eLearning (LieDM) association and EDEN executive committee member. Her research in distance and e-learning is focused on designing quality assurance in distance learning/teaching curriculum. which is the topic of her dissertation defended at Vytautas Magnus University in 2008. Her research problem areas include effective study methods, quality assurance policy development and implementation, virtual mobility, and OER. She was a scientific collaborator at the University of Liege (2004 – 2009) and the co-author of methodology for higher education institutions for self-evaluation and assessment on the preparedness to implement e-learning in Lithuania.
