Research Special Interest Group

Professional Award for Excellence in Research

The OADD RSIG Professional Award for Excellence in Research is awarded annually to acknowledge a professional who has demonstrated a high level of research excellence throughout his/her career in the field of developmental disabilities. 

The recipient of this award will be recognized for having made a significant contribution to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and research to enhance the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.

The award recipient will receive a waiver of the OADD RSIG conference registration fees and have the opportunity to give an invited address (30 minute presentation) during the OADD Research Special Interest Group Research Day.
 

Awards

1)  The O.A.D.D. RSIG Professional Award for Excellence in Research is awarded to acknowledge a professional who has demonstrated a high level of research excellence throughout his/her career in the field of developmental disabilities. The recipient of this award will be recognized for having made a significant contribution to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge and research to enhance the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Currently we are not accepting nominations for the Professional Award for 2011.

2) The O.A.D.D. RSIG Student Award for Excellence in Research is awarded annually to one student who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of developmental disabilities through an innovative and novel piece of research.

We are also accepting nominations for the Student Award. The recipient of this award will be announced at the 2010 Research Day, and they will be invited to give a presentation on their current research endeavors at the 2010 Research Day.

Eligibility

The Professional award is open to professionals who:

  • Do not meet the criteria for the student award.

  • Have demonstrated a commitment to research and the dissemination of knowledge in the field of developmental disabilities.

  • Are an O.A.D.D. member in good standing. Professionals who are not members must become one when submitting the nomination and supporting materials.

  • Are able to give an invited address during the O.A.D.D. Research Special Interest Group Research Day.

Nomination Process and Supporting Materials

  • Completed nomination form. Candidates for the award must be nominated by an individual that is a current member of O.A.D.D. in good standing.

Each applicant must also submit

  • A description (maximum 500 words) of the reasons why the nominee is deserving of this award. This description is to be completed by the individual making the nomination and should address the impact the nominee's research has had on the field of developmental disabilities in Ontario.

  • A copy of the nominee's Curriculum Vitae including published papers, presentations, professional associations, etc.
