Membership Executive Resources About our Society:The Mid-Pro Rock & Gem Society is a group of people who are interested in promoting the lapidary hobby, including gem faceting, wire wrapping, silversmithing, wire trees, and rock polishing. We also organize field trips periodically during the summer months. The society has a fully equiped lapidary workshop with instructors on hand as required. Members can learn how to make beautiful jewellery from rocks and gemstones found on field trips to local sources or from stones purchased at lapidary shops. Our society meets twice per month. The first Wednesday is a dedicated business meeting. The third Friday of each month is an instructional program, which may involve rock identifications, lapidary demonstrations, or a presentation by a guest speaker on some aspect of the lapidary hobby or other topics pertaining to geology. The Mid-Pro Rock & Gem Society was formed on January 19, 1973. The name for the society was not decided on until March of the same year. The name "Mid-Pro" is actually short for "Mid-Provincial", and reflects our geographical location within the province of Saskatchewan. Because of our location, we are in close proximity to a number of good collecting sites. Our society is a member of the Saskatchewan Association of Rockhounds and the Gem & Mineral Federation of Canada. How to Contact Us:Contacts:
