Freeware Review: HOTSEND

hotsend.com

Ever attached a document to your email, only to be told it has arrived as a jumble of strange symbols at the other end?

Yearning to send a photo of the new baby to grandma but newly wired grandma only has an e-mail program?

A nifty little utility called HotSend can banish those incompatibility blues by wrapping and delivering your document in its own portable viewer. Upon its arrival by e-mail, a double click of the mouse on the .exe file -et voila! All is revealed as the original document. HotSend purports to be useful for photos, reports, contracts, invitations and proposals.

I found HotSend easy to use and set up. The one annoying feature (it adds a new button to the menu bar of most of your programs on setup) is thankfully reversible. It’s also wise to name your document with no more than 8 characters if you want it to be openable. Minor peeves in a powerful little program designed to both expand and simplify your communication options.
