Public Health Agency of Canada
The Public Health Agency of Canada’s mission is to promote and protect the health of Canadians through leadership, partnership, innovation and action in public health. The Agency and Department of Justice Canada lead the coordination and implementation of United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). National Child Day celebrates the anniversary of Canada’s ratification to the UNCRC and the Agency leads the coordination of the activities surrounding National Child Day.

The Department of Justice Canada is responsible for providing policy and program advice and direction through the development of the legal content of bills, regulations and guidelines. Royal Canadian Mounted Police New Window
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) believes that young people can achieve worthwhile goals in their communities when given sustained and appropriate support. The objectives of the strategy are to deal effectively with youth who offend, to contribute to a reduction in youth victimization and offending, and to work in partnership with other social agencies providing services to communities. Public Safety Canada
Public Safety Canada is responsible for the overall coordination and management of the National Strategy for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation on the Internet. Through the Strategy, the RCMP's National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre provides national leadership and support to law enforcement, through for example, the development and administration of databases that support investigations, as well as the coordination of international cases and training. Cybertip.ca, funded in part by Public Safety Canada under the Strategy, provides for a focal point where the public can report suspected cases of child sexual exploitation on the Internet. Department of Canadian Heritage New Window
Canadian Heritage is responsible for the promoting the development, understanding, and respect for and enjoyment of Human Rights in Canada.
The Web site of the Human Rights Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage New Window contains information regarding the Convention on the Rights of the Child, including the text of the Convention and its Optional Protocols; Canada's most recent reports on its implementation of the Convention; and other documents related to Canada's reporting obligations under this international treaty.

HRSDC’s mission is to build a stronger and more competitive Canada, to support Canadians in making choices that help them live productive and rewarding lives, and to improve Canadians’ quality of life. One major focus of the department is to create programs and support initiatives that help Canadians move through life’s transitions – from families with children to seniors, from school to work, from one job to another, from unemployment to employment, from the workforce to retirement.

Canadian International Development Agency New Window
The Canadian International Development Agency’s work on child protection New Window aims to increase the realization of the rights of children in developing countries, particularly those in need of special protection (i.e. abuse, exploitation, and violence), through:

  • building the capacity of government and civil society organizations to implement commitments to all children;
  • supporting targeted social services, including health care, education and vocational training, rehabilitation, and reintegration; and
  • ensuring meaningful child participation in policy dialogue, research, and project implementation.

For instance, Canada is helping to reduce maternal and child mortality and improve maternal health through its leadership work on the Initiative to Save a Million Lives New Window. This multi-donor initiative aims to reduce death rates substantially among children and pregnant women by strengthening the capacity of health systems to deliver high impact, affordable health services at the community level.
