The Data Coordination and Access Program (DCAP) supports the health surveillance activities of the Public Health Agency of Canada through two main functions: 1. coordination of the Agency's input to the development of new data sources, especially Statistics Canada's multi-year survey plans, and 2. the acquisition and/or purchasing of data centrally on behalf of Agency programs. Both functions require extensive liaison with Statistics Canada and the Canadian Institute for Health Information. DCAP also works in the areas of data privacy and data quality. DCAP supports data privacy through the development of privacy guidelines and policies and data quality through its work with Agency programs to pilot and implement a data quality framework.
