Conservative leader says you can’t lead if you can’t focus and determine what really matters

Today in Ottawa, Stephen laid out the five priorities of a new Conservative government.

“If you don’t have a clear idea of what you want to accomplish, you probably won’t get much done,” said Mr. Harper. “You need to know what you believe in, what you want to do, and have a plan to do it.”

Harper says Canadians will choose the composition of the next Parliament. Should Conservatives lead that Parliament, the Conservative Party will pursue the following five priorities:

  • Clean up government by passing the Federal Accountability Act;
  • Provide real tax relief to working families by cutting the GST;
  • Make our streets and communities safer by cracking down on crime;
  • Help parents with the cost of raising their children; and
  • Work with the provinces to establish a Patient Wait Times Guarantee.

Mr. Harper noted that Paul Martin has labelled almost every issue he confronts as a priority, and as a result he has nothing to show for his two-plus years in office other than plans and meeting minutes.

“The only way to decipher any sort of hierarchy among Paul Martin’s many priorities was to separate those that were very important from those that were very, very important,” said Mr. Harper.

Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party know exactly where they want to lead Canada, by standing up for change and standing up for Canada.
