Havdalah, meaning separation or distinction, is the name given to the special Saturday evening ritual that marks the end of Shabbat. Various traditions are associated with the weekly ceremony; they include drinking wine from a kiddush cup, lighting the braided candle, and filling Havdalah spice boxes with aromatic spices. During the ceremony, the spice boxes are passed among the participants.
