Billy Connolly
Bill Connolly is known as being one of the best baseball players ever to play in Morell. He's an excellent pitcher and a powerhouse at bat, but will be remembered most for his all around involvement and love of the game. He started playing ball in '62, not for Morell but for Green Meadows. Over the next decade, Bill played on many Morell championship teams, and took part in 13 National Senior baseball championships. He was the All Star in the 1967 baseball tournament in Trois Rivier Quebec and has been honored with numerous awards such as the PEI Baseball All Star in 1983, '85, '87, and '88 . In 1983 and '85, he was also the PEI Senior Male Athlete of the Year. On top of all this, he won the 1981 Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League (NSSBL) batting title. Bill Connolly
In recent years, Bill hasn't strayed from the baseball scene. He has coached his son's baseball teams for the past twelve years, and was awarded "Coach of the Year" in 1998. His future plans are to keep on coaching, and to stay involved in the game that has made him a local hero.
