The Pisquid Phillies, also known as the Vipers, joined the KCBL in 1994. Founded and organized by Sterling Jay, the majority of the players had been out of the diamond for years or hadn't even stepped foot in one! The members who commited themselves to Pisquid during their four year trial were: Sterling Jay - Pitcher/2nd Base, Arthur Jay - 3rd Base, Garth Jay - Catcher, Wayne Fisher - Infielder, Gary MacKinnon - Outfielder, Kelsey Coffin - 3rd Base, Darren Mitchell - Pitcher, Grant MacEwen - 1st Base, Dale MacKinnon - Left fielder, Shannon MacKinnon - Outfielder, Darren Affleck - Center fielder, Claude O'Brien - Coach/Infielder, and Jamie Doyle - Catcher. They shared a field with Mt. Stewart - the Morrison field in Savage Harbour. They had no sponsors, so the cost of uniforms, bats, balls, and travel expenses had to be shared by all the players. Although the Pisquid Phillies did not win any major championships, their dedication to the sport was second to none.
