In conclusion, this presentation attempts to provide an overview of the history of Carleton's Campus plan proposals from 1953 to the present. These images and text are, to a lesser extent, the basis for a proposal in support of future research on this topic.

This collection set out to provide a foundation for understanding and explaining the evolution of the visions of the campus of tomorrow. This presentation can begin to provide a clearer background picture of the compromises which have occured, and the product - today's campus. This background information has application for operational requirements, and as academic research on a subject dealing with local history, architecture, and geography.

One goal of this study has been to promote a better overall understanding of this campus, as a place. Active participation in making this place, this campus, our place, requires a degree of understanding in how the immediate cultural landscape has evolved. The objective of this presentation is to provide a basis for discovery, to create curiosity, and to make connections. This collection is envisioned as a starting point, not a finished work.
