At 218 St. Andrews Street stands the small house built by Emily's sister, Alice Carr. The house is situated on what was once the site of the Carr's family garden. Alice used this house as a schoolhouse. In 1919, Alice temporarily left the house and lived on Sylvan Lane. Emily then used the schoolhouse for a studio. In 1939, Emily, with deteriorating health, moved in with her sister and once again set up a studio in the former classroom. Now her only surviving sister, they began to care and tend to each other's needs. Today the house stands as a private home.
