In 1864, the "Carr house" was built on eight acres of land in Victoria's first residential suburb, James Bay. Emily's father, Richard Carr, contracted Victorian architects, Wright and Sanders to design the house. The house is situated a stones throw from Beacon Hill Park and a few blocks from the ocean. This is where Emily Carr spent her childhood years. For more information on the "Carr House" and a virtual tour, visit the web site "Emily Carr at Home and at Work".
