The Municipality is named for the Brokenhead River which passes through the entire municipality. Brokenhead was
incorporated in July, 1900 and is comprised of eight Townships, which encircle the Town of Beausejour. While Brokenhead is located in Manitoba, soldier Pte. Elmer G. Bunn, a Native Veteran, was among a group listed as being from Northwestern Ontario.
Brokenhead is located 46 km north east of Winnipeg off Highway
