members of the Osanburgh band. The reserve area where these native people resided
was established by the Hudson's Bay Company. A trading post was established on this
location in 1788. This trading post became part of the Osanburgh band. The Cat
Lake reserve is located within the boundaries described by the James Bay Treaty of 1905 -
Treaty No. 9. The reserve was officially established on June 22, 1970. |
