The town of Chapleau, Ontario is located along Highway 129 and the Canadian Pacific
Railway. It has Native settlements of both Cree and Ojibway close by the town.
Chapleau resides within the Robinson-Superior Treaty. Most native organizations have
however, affiliated Chapleau with Treaty No.9. To avoid archival discrepancies we have
placed the three lists of Native Veterans together as one common area listing. Due to the
great confusion as to who was listed from where. Listings of veterans from one common area
are usually catalogued as being from the biggest area, so we have put those listed as
being from one the three Chapleau areas together. |
