In 1875, the Rat Portage and Dalles Band met with the government to select Reserve land.  The land chosen are identified as:

Rat Portage Indian Reserve No. 38A
Rat Portage Indian Reserve No. 38B
Rat Portage Indian Reserve No. 38C
Rat Portage Indian Reserve No. 38D

All are located on the northern portion of the Lake of the Woods near Rat Portage (now Kenora).

Dalles First Nation was part of the Rat Portage Band until formal separation occurred in September 1977.
