The Ojibway people of Lac La Croix inhabited the general area of the present location.   Lac La Croix signed the Northwest Angle Treaty of 1873 - Treaty No. 3 with the government.  The members of Lac La Croix moved from the Indian settlement at Kawa Bay to a reserve at Neguaguon Lake in 1910.  In 1913, the Ontario government created Quetico Provincial Park.  Within the park's boundaries, the reserves of Lac La Croix and Stugeon Lake were also located.  Stugeon Lake was aborbed into the Provincial park's boundaries under the Ontario Provincial Park Act in 1950.  Lac La Croix reserve is offically called neguaguon Lake I. R.  No. 25D.
