  • Uses very limited everyday vocabulary, simple learned phrases and short sentences, some evidence of connected discourse.
  • Comprehends key words only and formulates learned expression in simple, predictable conversations about basic needs and routine activities.
  • Demonstrates comprehension of basic commands.
  • Demonstrates strategies to check for understanding.
