Song of the Train

Here we go off, with a shrieking and creakin, Here we go off in the train; Crashing and dashing, and flashing, and clashing, On-over meadow and river and lane, Highland and lowland, forest and plain; What does it matter - sunshine or rain? Here we go off in the train!
Here we sit choking, growling, and joking, Here we go in the train; Gruffy, and huffy, and puffy, and stuffy, Children all screaming with might and with main; Hay-ricks and hedges, tunnels and bridges, Spires and wires again and again - Here we go by in the train!
Oh, jubilation! here is our station: Porters and passengers grumbling and stumbling, Boxes and bundles out they come tumbling, Bicycles, tricycles, buckets and spades, Lap-dogs and babies and nursery maids, Tents for the million, wine-hampers by dozens, Fathers and mothers, sisters and cousins, Farmers and shippers, and Saturday trippers, Tidy, untidy, fast, stupid, and free, Healthy and wealthy of every degree. Hustling and bustling, rushing and crushing - That's how the children come down to the sea!
