Our Spiritual Connection Mi'kmaq Narration

Twenty-four hundred years ago our people left offerings and conducted sacred ceremonies as they buried their dead in an earth mound. Forgotten by almost everyone for over 2000 years, this cemetery was rediscovered in the 1970s by Red Bank Elder Joseph Augustine. Today the Augustine Mound National and Provincial Historic Site is recognized as a sacred place. It provides Native people with a lasting spiritual connection to the past and with a strong direction for the future.
