Music is an integral part of Nova Scotia's culture. Nova Scotian music
is rooted in its land, tradition, religion, and history. Indeed, Nova Scotia
can best be defined by its music. It can not be labeled for it is as diverse
and varied as the people who preform it. Many styles are prominent. Jazz,
alternative, gospel, country, classical, and blues are but some of the
varied styles one can find in this province.
Nova Scotia has always been known for its superior
musicians. Local bands are receiving more and more international recognition,
and at the same time, each community is fiercely proud of its local groups,
regardless of outside popularity.
The choral
group from the Inglewood Baptist Church has focussed on keeping the traditions of Black culture alive through song. Inglewood is a small community
located just outside of Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, in Annapolis County. To
