Captain Palliser would be quite surprised if he was to visit Lethbridge today. The man who once believed that most of the Canadian Prairies were a desert would probably be shocked to find out that the area around Lethbridge is one of the largest producers of agricultural products in the world. In the more than ninety years since the Canadian Government ignored Palliser and opened the Lethbridge area to settlement, the people in the region have worked hard to make agriculture a success.
