Conclusion

In spite of its small size, the city of Lethbridge has made important contributions to Canada’s military efforts. Lethbridge had Canada’s highest per capita enlistment rate during World War I and World War II. It was the site of several key training centres, as well as a massive POW camp. Thousands of Lethbridge residents have served their country at home and overseas over the last century. The cenotaph at Galt Gardens in the centre of the city stands as a tribute to these men and women who made great sacrifices for their community and their country during difficult times.
