MEMOIR BAG ACTIVITY Create a Memoir Bag

Materials Needed: Small drawstring bag or plastic box A notebook Activity Description: A s part of the family scrapbook we're creating we will create a section called "The Memoir Bag", and we will fill it with memoirs we have collected about the families in our class.1) First, write a short story about your family - it can be something that happened recently or a long time ago. If you can, find some photographs about the people or events in your story.2) Paste your story into a hard cover book big enough to include stories from all your class members. Make a draw string bag out of cloth as a special Memoir Bag for the book to travel back and forth in.3) Each night, one student in your class (or a family member or friend), takes the Memoir Bag home and has an adult family member write down a family story in the book. Encourage the grownups to read the other entries in the book before they send it back to school the next morning. 4) Introduce the Memoir Bag each day of the activity by having the last person to take the book home read their story to the class.
