Gassy Jack's Statue in Gastown
"Gassy" Jack
Well, we all know that when history is about "other people," it can be pretty dry, pointless stuff. But since I am "Gassy Jack" Deighton the History of Vancouver is my story. So I will be your tour guide through Historic Vancouver. This section is about seeing yourself "in" history and as part of it. We will look at your own family's movement and that of others, seeing ourselves as part of immigration and settlement patterns.

By working with timelines, maps and stories we can see ourselves as part of an ever changing tapestry of people. Wherever you live and whatever you do, you are part of history.

In this section you will see yourself and the Roeddes in relation to Vancouver's history and understand major factors and events in the city's history.

We will also compare the troubles and triumphs of early immigrants with recent immigrants.
