(Postcard to Mrs. G.A. Roedde from Walter (adopted son) off to war)
Dec. 5th, 1916
Dear Little Mother!
We left Calgary last night at 7 p.m. and it sure was hard because no wife, or no mother to say good bye to me. I have an awful bad cold, and I can hardly see, and the train is shaking so bad, that I can hardly write. Give my best love to all at home. Hoping that this finds you well. I remain yours, lovingly, Walter.
