Anne
Savage began teaching at Baron Byng High School in 1922. The School
was situated in an urban, working class environment with a student
population of European immigrants.

When Savage
was hired as a teacher she read as much as she could about the
teaching of art, including books by Victor D'Amico, Belle Boas,
Leon Winslow, Morris Davidson, Marion Richardson and Herbert Read.
