First Nations Traditional

Teaching Units

Welcome

It is the belief of Wasagamack Education Authority that learning should involve the whole community and be exciting, rewarding and most of all culturally relevant. In an on-going effort, the Curriculum Development Co-ordinator and the teaching staff of George Knott School have been developing culturally relevant curriculum units for various grades. With the guidance and wisdom of our Elders, these units are unique because they are experienced by 3 generations. We present you with a sample of our First Nations Traditional Teaching Units.

Each of the following units include a rationale, a web diagram, advance material preparations, lesson plans, evaluations/reflections and a brief Profile of the Elder.
