Lectures suggérées

Bien que leur travail dans l'affaire « Personnes » soit le plus connu et celui pour lequel elles ont été le plus honorées, les Célèbres cinq avaient d'autres intérêts et préoccupations très diversifiés. La Bibliothèque nationale du Canada conserve des publications, écrites par ces femmes ou à leur sujet, qui soulignent leur implication dans les mouvements de tempérance et de droit de vote pour les femmes, de même que leurs activités littéraires et politiques.

Plusieurs d'entre elles ont fait l'objet de biographies complètes. Leurs idées et leurs actions en matière de réforme sociale sont analysées dans des études théoriques sur le suffrage et l'activisme social. Seule une sélection des écrits publiés par les Célèbres cinq est présentée ici. Elle comprend entre autres une brochure sur Sara Rowell Wright, qui œuvrait dans un mouvement de tempérance, un discours présenté à un rassemblement d'élections de la United Farmers of Alberta et un des populaires romans de Janey Canuck, pseudonyme d'Emily Murphy.
