Once a story is told there is no ending it. It keeps on flowing from one person to the next growing and changing just like a stream does, until it finally ends in the ocean and is then recycled.

In the past, the brave would listen to tales of ghosts, spirits and strange events. Children lived in fear of devils, and noises in the night. Without the comfort of light to calm them in bed, the stories told would repeat themselves endless times in their heads. "Back then it was easier to get scared, we used to wait for Mamma to go to bed on the nights she would tell us these stories. We would hold on to her skirts when she went upstairs. There was no way we were walking up those steps without a light!"

In the midst of modern day monsters it is a hard for us to imagine the scariness of old ghost stories. However, when the electricity fails and a storm rages outside, or you are sitting around a campfire in the openness of the night, it becomes easier to get goose bumps. People have been telling and making up ghost stories for centuries. It looks like there still remains a certain fascination with the mysteries of the unknown.

The 'Sightings' section contains stories of ghosts, UFO's and other strange events that have haunted West Prince since the turn of the century. They represent the folklore that we all want to know about, the stories that do not die.
