It is difficult to explain just what a rural legend is. Some would define rural legends as scary stories or events that are only slightly based on truth. Stories of haunted houses and forerunners, for example, are examples of local legends. It seems that they grow with the imagination of each person who hears them. They can not be classified as sightings, for no one can say for sure that anything was ever seen. In your imagination, though, you can see.
