Intersectoral Healthy Living Network

The Intersectoral Healthy Living Network (IHLN) is a virtual “network of networks”, bringing together a vast array of healthy living stakeholders (e.g., physical activity, healthy eating, chronic disease). This network acts as a central mechanism for members to communicate (mainly via electronic means) and collaborate to advance the vision and goals of the Integrated Pan-Canadian Healthy Living Strategy. Any individual or group that supports the vision, goals and principles of the healthy living strategy can join the IHLN.

The IHLN is made up of all members of the Healthy Living Issue Group (HLIG) and their respective networks. The HLIG is made up of representatives from federal, provincial and territorial governments; the private sector; the non-government/voluntary sector; and Aboriginal organizations. The HLIG meets regularly to discuss the alignment of policies and practices that may have an impact on healthy living. The HLIG is also part of the larger External linkPan-Canadian Public Health Network. PHAC, on behalf of the HLIG, coordinates the development of annual reports that highlight healthy living initiatives that contribute to reaching the targets of the Integrated Pan-Canadian Healthy Living Strategy.

Currently, network members are engaged through quarterly Healthy Living E-Bulletins designed to keep healthy living stakeholders informed on efforts to promote physical activity, healthy eating and healthy weights across the country. If you are interested in joining the network, please subscribe to the Healthy Living E-Bulletin.

Please note that the Public Health Agency also works through two formal federal/provincial/territorial channels to help ensure a consistent and collaborative direction for physical activity promotion and development in Canada.
