Color black, medium to dark brown, reddish bronze or brownish red.
Luster opaque metallic, greasy or pearly luster.
Streak black.
Distinguishing features care must be taken to not confuse this mineral with its almost identical cousin kupletskite; the stellate (star-like) growth pattern is typical.
