Habit needle-like crystals that symmetrically taper to a point..
Cleavage good prismatic cleavage.
Fracture none.
Hardness 3.5 - 4
Specific Gravity 3.7
Color colorless, white, pink, gray or green.
Luster transparent to translucent with a glassy luster.
Streak none.
Distinguishing features often resembles celestine but unlike celestine, strontianite effervesces with warm HCl acid.
Uses an ore for strontium, fireworks (red/purple flame when heated).
