One of the more notable events during this era are the William Summers Junior Crew six year winning streak from 1959 - 1964, a feat never repeated by any crew.
Another item to take notice of was the dead heat of 1974, where Newfoundland Light & Power and Hickman's Motors posted the same times, thus splitting the Championship awards.
Probably the most important change however, is the recognizing and recording of the women's championship times, starting in 1979.
