In 1987, the Royal St. John's Regatta Hall of Fame was established. That year two crews and nine persons were inducted in three categories: Rower/Crew, Coxswain/Coach, and Builder.

The names of Hall of Famers are famous not only within Regatta circles, but also in the annals of Newfoundland history.
