TIMELINE
Creating a Personal Timeline

Building a Personal or Family Timeline

Now that you and I know about the history of Vancouver, it is time for us to talk about building a personal or family timeline. In order to build a timeline for Vancouver or any other place or thing we had to do a little research. The same is true for building a personal timeline. But for a family timeline we use interviews and personal memory instead of libraries and archives.

In the Family Fun section you can learn all about the Roedde family and how to research your own family tree. By talking to family members we can find out about the dates that are important to your family.

Here are some dates you might want to ask about:
The year you were born.
The year you started school.
When and where your parents were born.
The last time you moved.
The year you got your first bicycle.

Your parents, Grandparents and other relatives can tell you a lot about where your family came from and why. Other than the indigenous people all our families came to Canada from somewhere else. It is interesting to look at where we came from and when. In the next activity, Immigration, we will look at the migration of people to Vancouver from many parts of the world.
