Deskbook and Director’s Guidelines
Federal Prosecution Service Deskbook (FPS)
Federal prosecutors, whether employees of the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) or private-sector agents, are guided by the rules and guidelines included in the FPS Deskbook, a publication created by the former Federal Prosecution Service of the Department of Justice Canada.
On February 21, 2007 the Attorney General of Canada issued a directive under section 10(2) of the Director of Public Prosecutions Act directing that all federal prosecutors and persons acting as federal prosecutors continue to be guided by the policies and guidelines set out in the Federal Prosecution Service Deskbook, with any modifications that circumstances may require, subject to any guidelines issued by the Director under paragraph 3(3)(c) of the Director of Public Prosecutions Act.
