League Programs and Projects

As the largest organization in the country dedicated specifically to the art of poetry, the League of Canadian Poets sponsors programs nationally.

Reading Programs
The League runs four different reading programs for its members.

Poetry Spoken Here WebStore
Publishers and poets can submit books to be sold through the web store.

Calendar of Readings
Looking for poetry readings near you? Our calendar advertises events happening from coast to coast. Want to publicize your own reading? Just fill in the easy e-form.

Newsletter
The League produces a monthly electronic newsletter for members and poetry-lovers. To post events, contest/awards or member news, please email readings@poets.ca.

Poetry Markets for Canadians
The League's one-stop resource for information about getting your poetry published.

Manuscript Help
League members are available for manuscript evaluation and poetry-critiquing services.

Lowther and Lampert Awards
Each year, the League presents these two awards for full-length books.

The Anne Szumigalski Lecture Series
The Anne Szumigalski lecture series, proposed by Regina poet Paul Wilson in 2001, commemorates the award winning Saskatchewan poet, who had died a few years earlier.

The Voice of the Land Lifetime Achievement Award
This award is presented every five years and carries a $5,000 prize. The first award was presented to Al Purdy in 2001.

National Poetry Month
Every April, the League brings together schools, publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, libraries, and poets across the country to celebrate National Poetry Month.

Youth Message Board
A place where young people can workshop their poetry with published poets.

The Poetic Licence Contest for Canadian Youth
This bilingual youth poetry contest is open to young Canadians from grades 7-12.
