Regional/Provincial Economic Development Resources

Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is a federal government agency dedicated to promoting economic development throughout Atlantic Canada. The site provides localized links within the Atlantic region, including a searchable database of ACOA-funded projects, information on interest-free, unsecured business loans, and a library of articles and reports concerning recent economic initiatives. Links to other pertinent business sites are provided, as are responses and directions for frequently-asked-questions (FAQs).

Western Economic Diversification Canada
Western Economic Diversification Canada's achieves its stated mandate through three targeted areas: innovation, economic development, and business development. The site combines business tools, reports, guides to financing, success stories, specific information for identified groups, and information on resources province by province. The site also offers a large media section and links to further resources for business in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.

Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions
This site promotes develop of small and medium sized enterprises throughout fourteen designated regions of Quebec. Within each region, information is broken into four categories outlining the economic highlights, local priorities, local programs, and contact information for each. Information regarding reports and publications and special events is also available, and the opportunity exists to personally customize the site and receive targeted information of interest. Also available are a searchable news release archive, searchable studies and reports, and a searchable communication and discussion forum.

Provincial Economic Development Sites
Each province and territory in Canada provides its own economic development portal with information, forms, contacts, surveys and studies, and legal and taxation information particular to that locality. These sites are an invaluable resource for highly specific local information, which may or may not harmonize with the broader federal guidelines presented in the sites above.
