Freshwater

An unincorporated community, located on the west side of Conception Bay, 3.2km northeast of Carbonear. Freshwater is one of the earliest settlements in Conception Bay. It is one of the earliest Methodist strong holds in Newfoundland. The majority of Freshwater's economy throughout most of it's history was the fishery.

Freshwater was mentioned in the journal of Abbe Jean Baudoin who was with Moyne d'Iberville on the Newfoundland expedition in 1696 and 1697.

After confederation (1949) the population altered.
