During the 1760's and 1770's there were references to New Harbour in the diaries of Trinity-based merchant Benjamin Lester. Family names include Bishop, George, Hefford, Hillier, Thorne, Pollett, and Woodman. Later in years a George Cranford came there as a teacher, establishing that family name in the community. Other well known families first recorded in the 1800's were Smith, Williams, and Woodman. |
